Q. I would like to share a twin room but I am coming alone. Can I share with another guest? A. Only two of our locations have twin rooms. If two guests are happy to share, let us know in advance, or if you are alone, we will try to match you with a compatible room mate.
Q. What happens during the program? There are a variety of activities. Soft Yoga, meditation, stretching sessions, swimming, massage, sauna, informational talks and inspirational documentaries. Bike hire can be arranged. Some locations are within a beautiful golf course development. Non-members may play golf and use the facilities.
Q. Is Antarana a ‘Juice-only’ Retreat? Healing programs are primarily juice fasting, based on a program of four juices per day. However, fro chronic disorders may include up to 13 juices per day! We also have daily shots of ginger, turmeric and apple or a chlorophyll-rich green juice.
Q. Are there any supplements in the juices? This depends on your individual health issue. We may include Spirulina, Wheatgrass, or Herbal Tinctures
Q. Is there a Spa at the Retreat? There is no spa but we have experienced Spa-qualified masseuses who offer a variety of massages and treatments, both therapeutic and for relaxation. Massage can be poolside, in a Sala, or in the room. Daily Massage and Sauna are included as part of the package. There is a charge for additional sessions, beyond treatments.
Q. Can I book for more than one week? Yes. Many people book to stay at the retreat for consecutive periods and achieve excellent results. We recommend a maximum of 30 days at the Antarana Retreat. Stays over two weeks are discounted by 5%. If you wish to extend your stay, please check with the Health Coach or on-site manager.
Q. Do I need to pay the full amount for the Retreat immediately? Yes, if you pay by credit card. Otherwise you may pay a 50% deposit, if paying by bank transfer, the balance to be paid 30 days prior to your program start-date.
Q. Do you provide discounts to returning customers? Absolutely! Please see SPECIAL OFFERS.
Q. How can I pay? We prefer bank transfers. We also accept debit/credit card payments, PayPal or bank transfers (contact us for more details). NOTE: Only 10% of payments in Thailand are by credit card, due to the population's objection to charges. 90% of business conducted in Thailand is by bank transfer.
Q. If I cancel my booking, can I get a refund? Please see our Terms and Conditions regarding our refund policy.
Q. Is Travel Insurance included? No, please arrange insurance cover independently.
Q. Which is the nearest airport to Antarana? Suvarnabhumi Airport, Bangkok.
Q. Are flights included in the cost? No. You will need to source and pay for your flights separately.
Q. How long is the transfer from the airport to the retreat? The transfer from Suvarnabhumi airport to the retreat will take around 2hours 45mins by road.
Q. How do I arrange the transfer? We organize airport transfer for you. Notify us of your flight number and arrival time and we arrange for someone to meet you at airport arrivals. If you are coming from another location in Thailand you will need to arrange your own transport to the retreat.
Q. How much is the transfer? The cost is included in the price.
Q. What do I need to bring? On Fitness Retreats, sports footwear is essential for walks and exercising. The Retreat is very casual. It is a tropical climate so most only need light clothes and sandals. Clothing here is very affordable. We also recommend you pack your own water bottle however these are available in the shop.
Q. What is the weather like in Thailand during the Retreats? Thailand has a rainy season from April to November. Hua Hin has the lowest rainfall in the country. Q. What is the accommodation like? Antarana provides a high standard of accommodation, similar to what you may find in a boutique resort or good hotel. Most rooms include air conditioning, wi-fi, tv, robes and towels. For more information, including images of rooms, please visit the Locations page.
Q. Can I book days to go sightseeing and shopping? The general idea is that you do not leave the retreat, as you are submerged in a mind and body detox, or serious healing. However, once per week, we do organise trips to local attractions, which is a wonderful opportunity to see a little more of Portugal.
Q. If I can’t arrive on the start date can I still join the retreat? Yes. Your room is booked for the whole period.
Q. What time can I arrive? You can arrive at the retreat from 1 pm on the Retreat start date. If you have an earlier flight you are welcome to use the on-site facilities until your room becomes available.
Q. Can children attend the retreat? Well-behaved children, aged 14 or over, can attend. However it is fundamentally an adult environment where people have come to relax and/or heal. It is important for anyone wishing to bring children to respect this.
Q. Where is the Retreat held? Locations depend on numbers attending. All locations are within 30 minutes of the centre of Hua Hin and only a few minutes to local beaches.
Q. Why can't we use credit cards at Retreats? A. We are only set up for credit card transactions over the internet. We do not have credit card facilities locally. Please ensure you bring adequate cash or travellers cheques with you, to cover the period of your stay and enough cash for any additional expenditure. Local ATMs allow you to draw cash and allow you to select an English menu. Please check your daily ATM withdrawal limits.
Q. I want to consult with the Health Coach. What if I don't have Skype? To conduct a video consultation, both parties need to have a webcam installed. If you do not have Skype, let us know which video program you have and we will try to use it.
1. click 'Download Skype Now'. 2. Select Windows, Linux or Mac. 3. After installation has completed, you will be asked to provide a Skype username and password.
Once complete, go to Tools, Option, Video Settings to check your webcam is working correctly.
Make a Skype TEST CALL to check headphones and microphone are working correctly. Go to Tools, Options, Audio settings. You will see 'Make a free test call'. Select this and record a message. If you do not have a webcam, the call can still take place, with AUDIO only, like a normal telephone call.
QUESTIONS ABOUT ONLINE COACHING
Q. Why are your prices for Health Coaching high? They aren't high considering the work Health Coaches do. They do not just work during your call and are not subsidized by government. There is processing of your information and investigations to be conducted, which can double or triple our hours. Pricing also reflects demand, experience and skill level. If you feel cost is an issue, consider the cost to you, of not resolving your health issue. Direct and indirect costs, such as loss of earnings and/or failure to achieve promotion, due to illness, are usually far in excess of the cost of any health coaching.
Q. How many Online Coaching sessions will I need? This is impossible to say. We are all unique, with different health challenges, constitutions and capacities. Some clients respond quickly and need only one or two sessions. Others need more, especially with disorders like Cancer Recovery, where conventional treatment can be extremely damaging and ongoing emotional support is crucial.
Q. Can I use Google Hangouts instead of Skype? If you really wish to use it, let us know but we prefer Skype, which has a good track record of stability. Hangouts will be great but not just yet. If you wish, you can uninstall Skype, once your health coaching has ended.
Q. Can I break up my time and use it when I want? Certainly and we recommend it. If you book a 1hr session, we often break it into two slots, to allow follow-up. If you only use 45 minutes, take the other 15 minutes when you are ready.
Q. How do I know how much time I have left? We have time-recording software that helps track callers and time used. We can tell you how much time you have left.
Q. How can I make the best use of my time? Knowing what questions you want to ask, helps you and helps us. Write them down before we start, so you don't forget. Better still, send your questions to us beforehand, in case we need to carry out any research.
Q. If I do not use all my time do you provide rebates? Partial refunds from our credit card provider is not possible.
Q. Do you record 'Ask the Coach' sessions? We can record audio only, on request. Video files are extremely large and require a lot of editing. If you know of a good compression package and easy-to-use video editing software, let us know!
Q. I am uncomfortable with video. Is it okay to only have sound? Yes. Some of our senior callers feel self-conscious or feel the video is a distraction. Having sound-only can help focus more on what is being said. If clients require an EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) session, then both parties will need video.
Q. What happens if we lose the internet connection in the middle of a session? This can happen. We have battery-backup to our server, so times are still recorded. You can wait a few minutes to see if the connection is restored. If not, we re-schedule to the next available time slot, using sms and confirm via email.
Q. I am in a different Time Zone to you. Does it matter? We receive calls from all over the world. Our online calendar displays appointments, in your local time.
Q. Do you offer Health Coaching sessions in other languages? Consultations are in English only.
Q. Are Coaching sessions confidential? Absolutely. Our business depends on our reputation. Advertising does not bring us customers. Word-of-mouth recommendations do. Without trust between caller and coach, there would be no business. Calls are private. Some record-keeping is necessary, so the coach knows who he is talking to and what was discussed in previous sessions. Only the coach has password access.
Q. How do I get my free copy of your book? Those booking their first session or retreat will receive a FREE PDF copy of my book, which can be read by most devices. A download link will be emailed once full payment has been received.
Q. How long is a Health Coaching session? The first hour is usually split into 2 parts. 1. Information-gathering and advice. 2. Follow-up. Initial consultation is 60 minutes, with subsequent sessions 45 minutes. Please ensure you have completed the Health Questionnaire
Q. Why 10 Sessions? Chronic disease can affect us in profound ways. Physically, mentally and emotionally. Finding the underlying cause of a disease can take investigation and time. Making permanent improvements to our lifestyle is almost always necessary and this requires ongoing education, encouragement and support. The Health Coach will try to provide you with tools so you can help yourself and save time and costs. Experience shows 10 sessions are often needed for Cancer Recovery and certain other 'incurable' disorders. The average time to recover is 9 months. With Health Coaching, we reduce this to just a few weeks.
